Review of Aguirre, the Wrath of God (1972) by Colleen C — 28 Dec 2008
An amazing, shoe-string budget German independent film that established Werner Herzog as a terrific director and star Klaus Kinski as a mad genius. The majority of the action you see in the film, such as the rapids braved on the water and the struggling through the jungle areas, was authentic, and the exhaustion of the actors was real, making Kinski's Aquirre even more compelling that he is still arrogant and bold even when it is apparent he has doomed himself and everyone else.
A terrific introduction to the fact that there aren't as many limits in independent production as one might think.
