I can appreciate what Herzog was trying to do, and the fact that this was shot on location in the Amazon is pretty impressive. It's well acted and shot. However, I think the film that it influenced a few years later, Coppola's "Apocalypse Now", is a vastly superior film and still the definitive adaptation of Conrad's 'Heart of Darkness'.
It is rare to see a film that emphasizes sub.
