Review of Agora (2009) by Colm M — 18 May 2010
A wonderful movie. Moving when I'm not really sure what I expected it to be. Hypatia of Alexandria was an amazing woman. A visionary who was ahead of her times and much like anyone these days, was ridiculed for it.
I don't much enjoy watching movies involving religion and/or politics not because they make me think ... more so, they make me think too much. The mistakes of the past made in the name of God are much too vast in history. This movie was a very good example of that. People should be allowed to believe what they choose whether it be a strong belief in a deity or perhaps just another form of it in having belief in things such as philosophy.
This movie is worth taking a look at, even if, you don't end up watching the whole thing.
