Review of Agora (2009) by Aaron S — 29 Nov 2010
The greatest thing about Agora is it's basis on historical fact. The rise of Christianity brought about the Dark Ages. So much that we had learned was lost in the burning at Alexandria, and science spent a thousand years under the oppressive thumb of religious fanaticism.
It seems as though most people are missing the message of this movie which is, "we are all brothers". The scenes with the panning of the camera to outer space are genius. They help to drive home the the fact that humanity is all alone and our petty differences mean nothing.
Rachel Weisz is excellent and so is the cinematography.
