Review of Agora (2009) by Laura S — 22 Dec 2010
It is an unfortunate thing when a movie like this comes and goes with very little notice, while the same old junk gets all the attention.
This is a great story of a woman who was on to something grand far sooner than the times would allow.
Rachel is great as always. As Hypatia, she exudes an infectious wonder, as she ponders the stars and the planets, that could make anyone smile.
The religious battles are consistently disheartening, and seem to be in direct contrast to what they are teaching. The hypocrisy is glaring!
I was especially bothered by the sacking of the library. So much information lost! So sad.
A great movie with an unfortunately predictable(not a slight against the movie) ending. See it.
