Review of Agora (2009) by Bryon V — 20 Mar 2011
This is very much a historical drama with beautiful cinematography. While the story is fictionalized, the idea behind the story rings true. Was it religious zealots who killed Hypatia or the political motivations of men? Either way the concept of this story leaves you to think, as it should, what advancements in our would could human beings have made without the walls put up by religion, the thirst for power and money, and the less than pure political ambitions of men? Also Rachel Weisz is in it, which is always a plus.
