Review of Against All Odds (1984) by Fred W — 09 Feb 2009
REVIEW: The first hour+ has many corny moments and hollow melodramatic dialogue. The ending was more interesting. PLOT SPOILER: Injured football player (Terry), recently cut from The Outlaws, reluctantly agrees (for the money) to help his shady friend (Jake) find his girlfriend (Jessie) who is hiding out in Central America from both Jake and her shady land-developer parents who happen to own the Outlaws.
They fall in love. An agent of the outlaws locates them and is killed in the struggle. Terry wants to run, Jessie returns home to Jake. Jake asks Terry to steal files Outlaw lawyer (Steve) has on illegal gambling/game-fixing (which included Terry).
He agrees. When he breaks into the office, he finds Steve is killed and Terry is being framed. Terry gets sypathetic secretary to return to office to get "secret" copy of real files. She does, and Terry confronts Jake, and some of the dirty developers on the Hilltop construction site.
Shootout, Jake is killed. Terry is back in football but as some part of deal with her father or other developers he is suppose to leave Jessie alone (but obviously won't).
