Review of After the Wedding (2006) by Kristi M — 22 Aug 2013
The title of this movie is misleading because it looks like it's a romantic comedy when really it's not a chick flick or about romance at all. it's a drama about family relationships, mortality, evaluating what's important in life, making tough choices and setting things right for bad choices.
It's a great character study that will tug on your heart strings and I'm glad I saw a recommendation for it or else I probably would have skipped over it. My only negatives are that they should have come up with something else to name it when the wedding really was a brief part in the whole thing and all of the close up shots of people's eyes.
I get that eyes are the doors to the soul and it's supposed to show depth of emotion I but I don't think that your deer head on the wall needs a close eye shot...what was that for? When you find out that one of the characters is going to die I was just waiting for the close up shot of their eyes after they were dead.
(which didn't happen by the way, go figure).
