Review of After the Wedding (2006) by David S — 15 Sep 2010
This is a surprisingly cathartic work about grief, family strife, and character. The plot twists are nothing new, but will still surprise you. The pacing and dialogue are honestly human and the acting is surprisingly raw and affecting.
Personally, by the end I was awash in tears. The sense of loss is all-consuming; it's like watching your house burn down. Bier also gets high marks from me for beautiful use of color, framing, and jump cuts.
