Review of After the Dark (2013) by Gordon M — 04 Nov 2014
TL;DR - A feast for the eyes that would have been amazing as a 40 minute short film.
Good points-.
-Amazing sets and special effects.
-Beautiful Aesthetic, it has this nice glow all throughout.
-Great acting, especially from the main characters.
-Interesting premise.
-A feast for the eyes.
Negative Points-.
-Too long for the amount of material presented, would have been better as a 40 minute short film.
-They used a tell and not show with regards to characterisation of its leads, with supposedly less intelligent characters being equal to more intelligent characters.
-Paradoxically they use a show and not tell for the scenarios which means that 5 minutes of scenario was stretched out to more than 20 minutes in each case.
-Script was not the best around with a relatively predictable twist ending.
-Ultimately it is not really a thriller as even in universe the thrills are fictional and without repercussions.
