Review of After Porn Ends (2012) by Alex R — 31 Dec 2012
After Porn ends is a good documentary about what the actors in that business go through when they retire. The documentary is pretty interesting, but could have been much better considering the subject.
With this film, the filmmakers talk to former porn stars that have been in the business and are now retired due to personal decisions. This one touches on the subject, but I felt it didn't go in that area deep enough to really make this a compelling viewing.
Yes, it is sad, and all, but I felt that something was missing. This is entertaining, but compared to other films in the genre, it just lacks in more areas than none. If you want something good to watch, this is good enough, but it doesn't necessitate multiple viewings.
The film features interviews with some of the industry's biggest talents, and how they live their lives after their porn career. I feel that it could have deeper into the consequences and that is where the film failed.
Sure, the actors talk about it, but we don't tend to see it. I feel that this one could have longer and really go into detail on each subject this documentary exposes. I think the filmmakers could have given a bit more substance to the material and it would have been a much better documentary.
However this is average at best, and doesn't go in depth with its intriguing subject, which is a shame because, this would have been a memorable documentary to watch. By the time the credits roll, it leaves you wanting more.
