Review of After Hours (1985) by Kenny H — 09 Aug 2008
Movie shows a different, more comedic side of director Martin Scorsese than what we normally see. His camera work in this film is really impressive given the type of movie that it is.
The film is overall enjoyable that explores the Soho district as well as the role of coincidence. However, I felt that the script in this film could have used another rewrite - Oliver Stone 90's movie "U-turn" with Sean Penn explores the same ideas that this film did but much better as it had more distinctively engrossing characters and actors. I instantly empathized with Sean Penn's character from "U-turn" but not with the main character of "After Hours" though they under went the similar trials.
See "U-turn" first and then "After Hours".
