Review of After Hours (1985) by Yasser A — 13 Feb 2012
Martin Scorsese is usually classified as a director of intense dramas, but he has more range in his material than most people give him credit for. A good example is this story about a Manhatten guy who heads out for some late night fun and ends up engaged in a series of comedically nightmarish misadventures.
The wild hijinks and the numerous cameos make this film resemble an urban rendition of Alice in Wonderland. Overall, After Hours is a manic, occasionally goofy, and delightfully watchable anomaly in Scorsese's venerable body of work.
