Review of After Earth (2013) by Lena X — 28 Apr 2014
Extreme spoilers ahead. Just in case you want to see the movie, which I suggest you don't... I watched this not too long ago, the plot was the absolute worst... 1000 years past and the animals on Earth have evolved to kill humans.
.. Or I should say humans 'devolved' to useless and brainless twats. Leaving Earth after the tragic loss of guns, we see our hero on a new planet that has a much more dangerous creature that can smell fear, after the terrible plot starts unfolding he finds himself crash-landed on Earth with his dad.
So you know this is going to turn into a daddy and son bonding trip. We later see "new and improved" animals that already exist, like the mighty monkey, birds, and leopards. Guns are starting to look useful right now, too bad they don't exist.
Armed only with what I can describe as a reject light-saber, he soon encounters the fear-smelling creature that escaped from his ship. After some more father-and-son bonding, he controls his fear and kills the creature.
Great right? Just don't bother watching it, I forgot half the plot and I'm currently trying to forget the rest. Not worth the trouble. Sorry for the terrible review, I just deeply dislike this movie.
If non-existent acting and the most overused and ridiculous plot ever are what you're into, then this is the movie for you.
