Review of After Dark, My Sweet (1990) by Dave L — 09 Oct 2009
Dull and plodding, After Dark ultimately accomplishes nothing that hasn't been done before. The film loses points for a narrative that has most likely been extremely abridged from the novel. The characters have no time to develop in this cramped arena and come off as flat, despite a very strong performance by Jason Patric.
The final killing blow is a soundtrack that sounds like it belongs to Are You Afraid of the Dark?: the Nickelodeon kids' ghost story show from the 90's.
