Lucas (Ben Keyworth) lives in an area with a lot of blind people. Even his mother is blind. There is unfortunately a killer going around murdering the helpless blind citizens. And little Lucas snoops around town trying to find out the identity of the murderer. His detective work pays off when he rescues a woman from the clutches of the killer.

I know it seems like I gave the entire movie away, but honestly I haven?t. All of these events I just described are just the first 45 minutes of the film. And all of them are entirely fabricated in the mind of Lucas. Turns out that Lucas is losing his eye sight, and is in need of surgery to hopefully correct it. He uses his imagination to help him cope with what is happening to him, which becomes a bit dangerous the further his condition gets.

I liked Afraid of the Dark, but I didn?t love it. I thought it had a lot of interesting ideas to it, and a decent story as well. The cast was pretty nice, but not all that effective. While the movie is a psychological thriller, it doesn?t do a great job at getting inside your head. And even the ending where an infant child?s life is in danger, I never felt a sense of urgency for what was going on.

But I liked it enough. It isn?t a movie that I am going to tell you to go out and rent. But if you see it playing one night on television, it might be worth at least one viewing. You might end up liking it as well. .
