Review of Affair in Trinidad (1952) by David T — 02 Jun 2008
"Affair in Trinidad".
If you liked the teaming of Rita Hayworth and Glenn Ford in "Gilda", then you'll like this one too. It's pretty close to the same movie. Rita plays Chris Emery, a night club singer in Trinidad, who's Husband is found dead under suspicious circumstances. Steve Emery, played by Glenn Ford, arrives in Trinidad, only to find out that his Brother is dead and the local courts seem to think it was a suicide instead of an obvious murder.
Chris Emery is asked to go undercover by the local police and investigate an X-Nazi, the man who is fond of her, and may have also killed her husband, while Steve Emery is suspicious, jealous, and falling in love with his Sister-in-law. He is trying to get at the truth on his own and it seems to be drawn to the Wife and this man that she is seeing.
Rita Hayworth gets to do a couple of hot singing and dancing numbers, and Glenn Ford gets to do some shooting and fist-a-cuffs.
