Review of Æon Flux (2005) by Astalavista B — 04 May 2009
One of the few movies I actually regret buying. It's a great looking film and Charlize Theron is lovely, but the screenplay is a total letdown from beginning to end. The story is trite and unimaginative, it fails to engage the audience.
It lacks humor and takes itself way too seriously, and the actors portraying the Goodchild's (Marton Csokas and Jonny Lee Miller) were just terrible. And above all else, the movie was just boring.
I loved the original series that this film is based on, but it was so weird that I knew that a mainstream film would not stick closely to the source. I accepted that because I thought they could still make a good movie, they didn't.
It's not even so-bad-it's-good, if that were the case I would've at least found some sort of entertainment value in it, the movie is just awful and a waste of time, effort and talent.
