Review of Æon Flux (2005) by Eduardo D — 24 May 2010
Our heroine is working with the underground as an assassin, her sister is killed, presumably by sinister government forces, and she is given a mission to kill the evil overlord Trevor Goodchild (Marton Csokas) But Aeon finds that things are a little more complicated than she had first surmised. The plot twist in this film is what really raises this screenplay above the average sci-fi film.
Super stylish and straightforward, the movie is an extension of an old MTV animated series. But the movie version maintains the spirit of the show, as our heroine jumps, runs, fights and shoots her way through a bunch of close calls with the enemy, the corrupt government of the city fortress in which she lives. It's a lot of fun to watch and a good time-pass if you are an action-sci-fi fan but don't expect much.
