Review of Adventures in Babysitting (1987) by Bill U — 22 Jul 2010
That's right I said four stars! Why? Two words...GUILTY PLEASURE. I've been a fan of Elisabeth Shue since the Karate Kid (not the one with Will Smiths kid) and I must have been on to something, because years later she would receive an Academy nod for her roll in Leaving Las Vegas.
This is just a really fun teen movie that you do not have to be a teen to completely enjoy! Chris Parker (Shue) takes a babysitting assignment that ends up becoming an unplanned road trip into the big bad city!
Keith Coogan (Don't Tell Mom the Babysitter is Dead) is hilarious as Parkers love struck ward. You will laugh til it hurts...many times over in this one. And remember..."Nobody gits outta dis place witout singin da blues.".
