Review of Adventures in Babysitting (1987) by Joshua B — 19 Jun 2012
This quirky movie manages to be entertaining despite being cheesy. The young girl's adoration of Thor is particularly amusing now that The Avengers is so big. It toes the line on being bigoted and prejudicial, but manages to show how the kids preconceptions about urban life are unrealistic.
Elizabeth Shue has a very arresting presence throughout which helps a great deal. I enjoyed it for the most part, although the pacing felt a little languid. I was never too worried nor too surprised, but it did make me laugh.
