Review of Adventureland (2009) by Petros T — 03 Mar 2016
Mottola toning it down after "Superbad", in bittersweet coming-of-age tale "Adventureland". It's far from fascinating or original storytelling, yet it still offers considerable resonance - at least up to the full-blown melodramatic final act.
It's always good to see Hader and Wiig, even if they're hardly stretching themselves, and Eisenberg is doing his shtick, maybe not as successfully as in the definitely superior "Zombieland" but convincingly enough anyways.
