Review of Adventureland (2009) by Jay H — 28 Dec 2011
Thanks to a fine script and superb direction, "Adventureland" manages to be one of the finest teen films since the John Hughes era. While the overall plot may be a bit simplistic for some viewers' tastes, its technical execution is very good.
The acting, however, leaves a bit to be desired. Stewart performs capably enough, but the main problem is Eisenberg, who gets a bit annoying and childish for his 20-ish-year-old character. The qualities of the fine production far outweigh the acting deficiencies, though.
The film is solid.
