Review of Advantageous (2015) by Roger G — 28 Nov 2017
This is a quiet, peaceful gem of a movie. It left me thinking/wishing, "Maybe someday..." At the same time it illustrates the extreme & private sacrifices that parents, especially single parents, are forced regularly to choose between throughout their child's life, & how these choices can blow up in our faces, leaving our hopes & dreams for our children, along with our best intentions, in tiny, little, burnt fragments all around us, like weeks' old confetti after a party's already been forgotten.
But then, there they are, our children, cleaning up our mess, taking care of us, their parents, putting pieces back in place, & letting us know that it's ok. I'm amazed that no critics have weighed in on this one.
