Review of Adrift in Manhattan (2007) by Kimberly P — 20 Jun 2008
I think movies with interconnected relationships seem to be a big interest to most people, but this one lacked a good story to back it up. I caught the latter half of the film and was mostly attracted to it because I had no idea what the heck was going on.
The story came to me rather quickly that there was this couple whose child died in a tragic accident which then tore them apart. There's some photographer that's obsessed with the woman and actually gets to live his fantasy, and there's this old man, who's slowing losing his sight and thus his ability to paint.
I didn't think it was horrible, but I wouldn't really recommend it either. If I was up for a more cheerful film, I'd be falling asleep watching this one for sure. Heather Graham is stunning in the film.
Kind of like the classic look for a middle aged woman. My favorite character was the painter, Tobias. I would be happy any day to enjoy a Beethoven concert with him. Seems like a very passionate guy when it comes to the arts.
