Review of Adoration (2013) by Roxanne R — 12 Dec 2013
The film that beat Man of Steel in my personal opinion and again each person is different with unique likes, dislikes, interests, etc. No need for dazzling special effects, epic battles, multi-million dollar budgets when fantasy and reality compete, chances are the film that hits home, the one that tugs at your heart and makes you wonder what if will be the winner and ADORE is that one.
BRAVO to the cast and crew of this film that most certainly will appeal to women. Brilliant writing by Doris Lessing and Christopher Hampton and direction by Anne Fontaine for a film that moves you, excites you and frankly breaks away from the darn boring mold.
I am sick and tired of the same old crap or older men, younger women love stories. Create something FRESH, NEW, VIBRANT, DIFFERENT and ADORE is that beautifully told in under two hours. We have two best friends since childhood Lil and Roz (Naomi Watts and Robin Wright) and neighbors.
Each one has a son and when their sons become adults, they fall for each other's sons. "Under the precise gaze of Fontaine's camera, ADORE radiates with intoxicating sensuality while exploring the intricacies of love, family, morality and passion.
" The ending took me by surprise and I loved it. When love knocks at your door and the feeling IS mutual, do not hesitate, do not doubt, do not fear...GO FOR IT! Xavier Samuel as Ian does a fine job and he was delicious in every way.
This is a film to be relished like an exquisite wine or dessert. Kept me fully engaged from its beginning to its conclusion and I know some will denounce it, others will applaud it. As a female viewer I fell in love with it and added to my private collection.
Great scenery and ocean views of the Australian coast. RECOMMENDED!!
