Review of Adopted (2009) by Ed M — 28 Jun 2010
Naturally, when I saw that Pauly Shore had a new movie, I had to watch it. I've always found Shore to be insanely funny at times. However, here, his mockumentary about getting his own adopted child from Africa is an unfunny mess.
The film relies on one gag for it's entire almost 90 minute run, "Angelina and Madonna have one, so now Pauly's getting one". Over the course of this film, I heard this said probably two dozen times. Sure I know Mr. Shore's playing things here for laughs, but a lot of it I just found unfunny and boring at times. And I was reminded during most of it that Pauly Shore really shouldn't have a kid.
Five years ago, Shore showed much promise with his short lived show "Minding the Store". However here he just takes a giant step backwards into the territory of being not funny. Skip it.
