I hate university admissions offices. I never really had any problem, I was accepted to most universities I applied to, that's really not the issue. It's their demeanor. It's like there is a giant stick shoved firmly up their buttocks. It's like they are somehow superior to the rest of humanity. It's probably the fact that they are the barrier between the tens of thousands who apply, and those lucky enough to get in to the elite ranks. The fact that they play God with people's future must give them some kind of superior status in their minds.

OK enough hating on admissions officers, back to the movie. So when I found out the main character here works at admissions in an ivy league university, I was doubtful I could enjoy this film. On the other hand that lead is Tina Fey, one of my all time favorite female comedic actors / writers. So what the hell, I gave it a shot, and I'm glad I did.

The movie has everything you'd want from a quirky romantic comedy. It's really funny, flows well, has incredibly likable and strong leads, and has a mildly touching and relatable storyline. Now I'm not saying I gave up a child for adoption only to find him 20 years later, but you know what I mean.

Tiny Fey definitely carries the entire film, and does a great job. You sincerely sympathize with her the entire way through the film. There is never a point where you feel she is acting. It's all so natural with her, and there are so few actors out there that feel so across-the-street natural. (Think Julia Roberts or Sandra Bullock).

Some criticisms: The movie is not memorable. I watched it a few days back and I can't really remember a lot of the details. I guess this light a film doesn't have that as a goal, but still. The supporting actors were a little weak at times. They don't carry the same weight and seemed forced. Yes one is a kid and the other a teen, but they could have used a little polishing or acting strengthening.

Overall a definite date-night movie winner that will entertain, if only temporarily.
