Review of Admission (2013) by Alan W — 04 Aug 2013
Not funny enough as a comedy and too sitcom-y in its structure to be taken seriously as drama, this falls into the twilight zone where both sides feel short-changed. Fey is average while Rudd underplays/feels stoic and it is as if both are playing the straight man looking for a comedian.
Tomlin stands out and is watchable but the bits with Sheen are painfully unwritten and unfunny bordering on stupid. The ending tries to be a morality tale but doesnt have the guts to go all the way. Denied.
