Admission does have a few charming performances from the leads of Tina Fey, and Paul Rudd but it does fall into that category of predictableness, dry humor, and is a bit boring.

A Princeton admissions officer Portia (Tina Fey) makes her visit to an alternative high school who is in charge by her former college friend John (Paul Rudd). John introduces her to one of his students Jeremiah (Nat Wolff) who may be her son that she secretly gave away in her early years. Jeremiah is very interested in Princeton, while Portia is doing what she can to get him recommended.

The plot of Admissions is one of those type of romantic comedy drama, where you may know the direction it is going to take. I will not say it follows that love dramatic story structure which most movies with two characters that tend to fall for each other do. But what else can you expect for Admissions, it is predictable with knowing how it will play out. But was the drama worth viewing? Maybe, it does have a character that made mistakes when she was young, and decided to find a better life for her. Until her past is brought up, and she tries what she can to connect with that person. It can be a bit boring as the story is quite dull.

Paul Rudd and Tiny Fey are the saving point to the movie. Fey character was at times charming and awkward. But she made the performance kind of entertaining. Rudd was okay as well but sure him and Fey could have done better if the script had a good direction.

Paul Weltz film did have some quirky funny moments but it did feel drawn out. Overall, Admissions was a not so good film with a cliché plot, some decent charming characters but with no sense of differentially to other predictable romantic drama movies.
