Review of Adaptation. (2002) by Carl B — 21 May 2012
The perfect collaboration between Jonze and Kaufman, this screenplay is so awesome. Tightly structured without seeming like it, multiple story-lines are weaved together seamlessly, it's funny, it's sad, it's somehow not pretentious and it is brilliant.
The performances are all top notch, particularly Chris Cooper and Nicholas Cage who turns out a dual performance of completely different characters, both grounded in reality and deeper than most of his over the top roles that he seems to love.
A great story and also one of the best movies about writing and the struggle of creating something unique.
