A unique, astonishingly original film, Adaptation is also one of the smartest films ever made, thanks to Charlie Kaufman's delectably mind-blowing script. He truly proves his genius by melding satirical comedy and a meta narrative to craft an insightful look at the script-writing process. If that isn't enough to provide a connoisseur's treat, Nicolas Cage gives a career best performance in the dual role of Kaufman himself and his fictional twin brother Donald. Meryl Streep and an Oscar-winning Chris Cooper are exceptional too.
One of the greatest films of the first decade of the 21st century, few movies are as stupendously bizarre and engaging as this delirious, Spike Jonze directed offering. An absolute must see.
