Review of Adaptation. (2002) by Knox M — 12 Aug 2017
Adaptation is the most personal film Charlie Kaufman has wrote. I would've never thought Nicholas could portray Kaufman's madness amazingly until now. It's hard to separate what is true and what is fiction in the film since it's based on Charlie's experience on adapting the book, so I had to do some research on it.
I didn't enjoy the last act because it goes into a total predictable Hollywood thriller, but you can tell Charlie was mocking the films Hollywood executives love The movie even slowly starts to transform into a generic Hollywood film after we're introduced to Donald's screenplay.
Adaptation is Kaufman's worst work, but it's still a masterpiece of a film.
