Review of Adam's Rib (1949) by Adam P — 06 Oct 2009
There are moments of brilliance here interspersed with stretches of dumb filler. I was never convinced that this particular assault case should be used as a feminist vehicle, it just isn't convincing that any kind of prejudice is going on.
The scene in which Amanda brings randomass women to the stand to prove...to prove....what, that women can do backflips? Completely ludicrous. The enormous talents of Judy Holliday and Jean Hagen were underused.
However, some of it was actually quite funny. I just didn't buy the heavy-handed social commentary. Perhaps it is merely dated.
