Review of Action Jackson (1988) by Wild Z — 19 Sep 2009
Perhaps one of cinema's biggest crimes is that Carl Weather's didn't feature in more films! Rocky 1-4, Predator, Action Jackson, wow....what a collection. Here, is perhaps his least known effort of the three, but his only star vehicle.
Sure, Action Jackson is B grade at the best of times, but you can't deny Carl Weathers' charm and presence. Perhaps his career was haunted by Apollo Creed...who knows. Vanity, who is hot sure, does a half decent job of playing a drug addicted singer, which doesn't necessarily mean she was acting unfortunately.
I can't not mention Craig T Nelson as candidate for one of the worst and least menacing bad guys in 80s action film folklore...AS IF Craig T Nelson knows kung fu! Overall, I liked it...due mainly to Weathers who is effortless.
