Review of Act of Valor (2012) by Dana A — 26 Sep 2012
If Modern Warfare, Medal of Honor and Battlefield had a baby, this movie would be it. The premise is simple, the acting is minimal and the action is real. This is a movie for action lovers and a form of thank-you to all those who are in the service.
Act of Valor combines stunning combat sequences, up-to-the-minute battlefield technology, and heart-pumping emotion for the ultimate action adventure film-showcasing the skills, training and tenacity of the greatest action heroes of them all: real Navy SEALs.
The action scenes are choreographed and filmed with a level of coherence that's become rare in this genre -- even if the elaborate raids and skirmishes look more like a series of war games than actual combat.
For a start, all the high-tech toys and gizmos actually work the way they're supposed to. I was fascinated and definitely intrigued. However, if war and action films are no your thing, this is NOT the movie for you.
