Review of Across the Universe (2007) by Sean S — 21 Jul 2011
If you like GOOD music, you'll enjoy this. Don't watch this movie if you're only into horrible music from modern day idiots like: Kesha and Katy Perry. This movie distributes some of the best the Beatles have to offer (Didn't hear Yesterday or Yellow Submarine but it's all good).
It combines a musical, which I particularly hold a disdain for so it was a treat in that aspect, and a decent story to back it up. The female cast was a total shocker. Evan Rachel Wood, who actually dates Marilyn Manson in reality, is cast as Jude's musical counterpart in this.
Hmmm...a satanic rock lord's long-time girlfriend singing Beatles songs? Not the best casting job. I did like it though. Clever with the incorporations of specifics from past albums to everyday drama.
Also, I hear that you need plenty of weed to REALLY enjoy this, so I may see some better ratings from some of you out there (You know who you are. ;) ).
