Review of Across the Universe (2007) by George M — 04 Nov 2012
Im a pretty big Beatles fan so I was really excited to see this movie when I first heard about it. However the issue for me is that Across the Universe works better as a compilation of music videos for a Beatles tribute band than a feature film or musical.
The songs are well sung and the visuals are great but the dont string together with the plot all to well. The film starts out strong but after the halfway mark it loses focus and becomes more abstract but picks back up for the final act.
Its a fun flick to watch on a weekend for kicks but nothing to "come together" over.
