Review of Across the Universe (2007) by Michael W — 06 Jul 2013
Perhaps one of the most underrated films of the last decade. Across the Universe may be short on story, but that's not surprising stringing together a bunch of Beatles songs. Where the film succeeds is in it's visuals.
The art direction is spectacular! Taymor made some pretty bold choices, and for the most part they pay off. This film should be watched not as a narrative or even a tribute to the Beatles, but as a long string of music videos and new interpretations of older, beloved songs.
Very Interesting.
