Across the Universe is definitely an ambitious movie full of ideas however many of the ideas lack a real sense of place and purpose. Pieces seemed to have been thrown in here and there if only to get us more Beatles songs, which were, by the way, butchered beyond credibility.
This is a direct result of the difficult concept attempted and lack of solid direction. The movie ended up being extremely cliche and incoherent.
