Review of Across the Pacific (1942) by Kevin R — 05 Jun 2011
It's true that in the original story written, it was about an American stopping Japan from their first strike against the US at Pearl Harbor. But guess what? Japan must have read it for ideas, and it actually happened! So the movie changed the attack loccation to Panama.
So it's really not that much across the Pacific then... Bogart is at his cool post "Falcon", teaming with John Huston again. But it is a pretty average propaganda spy film, and te Japanese accents by the so-called "Japanese" in the movie are HORRIBLE.
I guess Hollywood was not exactly casting people who could speak Japanese for the parts...
