Review of Ace Ventura: Pet Detective (1994) by Petros T — 04 Jul 2016

"AV:PD" has a rather slim plot and nothing earth-shattering in the jokes department, but Jim Carrey's charisma more than rescues the film. His overblown eccentricity might not be for everyone - and in truth he's pushing it really hard on this one -, but his dedication, animated facial expressions, voice stylings and intense movement bring life to each half-funny gag and line and, finally, the entire film.

Without him "AV" would probably bomb -- with him it is turned into a very pleasant comedy.
