Review of Accattone (1961) by Eunice C — 30 Dec 2007
The most worldly and least religious film of PPP. Amazing is that Pasolini began his film making career by exploring the grassroots life of Rome. To Pasolini, whether people's fate is predestined by their social background and traces of struggle against bourgeoisie dominance abound in the movie.
Accattone is a freshner for those stunned by "Salo". Subject matter is like that of "Rocco and His Brothers" that I recently watched. Pasolini is not as emotional dealing with this as Visconti.
