Review of Absolute Power (1997) by Jay L — 08 Feb 2011
Another great Clint Eastwood film, Absolute Power delivers all the thrills and then some. Eastwood directed, produced, and starred in this riveting, diabolical, and slick thriller. Based on the best-selling David Baldacci novel, this film had me from the opening scene. It's cunning, moody, tense, suspenseful, and entertaining as hell. A tension packed in-your-face smack of Eastwood suspense and style from the intense opening sequence to the drama packed ending. Absolute Power has all of the unique trademarks that Eastwood's films are known for; substance, atmosphere, and suspense. A perfect film for any Clint Eastwood fan. Action packed and completely edgy.
A supremely talented cast came together for this one, it stars Clint Eastwood in a great performance as a lonely lifelong thief tiring of his profession. Gene Hackman as the President of the United States, he never disappoints in any film. Ed Harris is great as a devoted detective hot on the trails of a thief and murderer. A superstar cast.
Intelligent and cerebral, this film is sure-fire entertainment that will have you on edge throughout. A very well made and pulse pounding thriller.
