Review of Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter (2012) by Austin K — 19 May 2013
Fun movie. If you have deciced to sit down and watch this movie you have already decided that you are totally okay with all the liberties taken with history and real people so why go into how that is totally wrong.
The movie is features some very cool action sequences and it is a whole lot of fun. Benjamin Walker, Anthony Mackie, and Mary Elizabeth Winstead are all very good in this movie, especially considering I would have been willing to totally forgive atrocious acting in a movie where Lincoln slays vampires with an axe.
I would have liked to see the movie be a bit more faithful to actual history, I think that would have been fun. Like the books that mix zombies into classics, they are true to the classics only dashing in the zombies to make them appeal to people who wouldnt otherwise give them a shot.
A movie like this could have been a great way to teach history and add in cool vampire battles. Maybe next time they should go with Teddy Roosevelt, then they won't have to embellish history so much to make him seem like a badass.
