Seagal's debut shows promise; he's fast, enigmatic, imposing, and comically stoic. What audiences may not have realized is that Seagal would portray variations of this one character for the next 20 years, never once showing the slightest indication that he was capable of playing anything other than a laughable caricature of himself.
