For a movie featuring time traveling (down to its title), About Time is extremely concerned with with the now. For a movie advertised as a timeless romance, it is particularly focused on the importance of family.
This all adds up to a refreshing change of pace. It is not the movie I expected, which is - unequivocally - to its benefit.
