Review of About Time (2013) by Jon S — 03 May 2014
( My grade B ) This one could've been called, "Time, Actually." Another pleasing british rom-com but now with a bit of time traveling shenanigans. "About Time" really could've been awful but it wasn't.
It was like confort food on a relaxing day off. It wasn't incredible or life changing but definitely not a bad way to spend a couple hours. Of course w/ any movie where time travel is involved there will huge gaps of logic that don't make any sense but whatever I guess.
Plus there's me screaming in my head for this poor fool to use his gift to win the lottery!! Ah but I digress. The movie is saved by 2 very likable leads, a pretty decent supporting cast, as well as some genuinely funny and/or touching moments.
The final message the protagonist gives us, after he decides to "travel" no more, is to not want to change anything & live everyday to the fullest is a little bs because he only says that after years of time traveling manipulation has made his life perfect, but whatever.
Still a good message in a very hard to hate movie.
