Review of About Time (2013) by Katherine H — 06 May 2014
This is now officially among my favorite movies, which says a lot for a film with only 4 actors I even vaguely knew - 1 of whom played a small, bit part and I only recognized him due to my borderline unhealthy Harry Potter obsession.
The main character, Tim, was Bill Weasley (um yes, please!) Plus Bill Nighy was there...it actually seems like they pilfered several of the Harry Potter-the-later-films-cast-members, then tossed in Rachel McAdams; which worked out just fine if you ask me.
So yeah, FABULOUS movie! My mom & I laughed like the disturbed individuals we are (well, it WAS funny!) & my dad actually stayed awake to watch the end....I can't begin to explain what a big deal that is.
(Seriously, movies are like Valium to him - I'm pretty sure he fell asleep during Skyfall & The Bourne Legacy, so it's pretty much HUGE). Add a Ben Folds song (and the other songs too) & I was in movie Heaven.
I think PG-13 would have been a more appropriate rating, but maybe Kate Moss's "breasts" (sorry, less than an A cup isn't really a breast to me, but I know she's an icon or whatever).
Plus, her dangling cigarette along with the use of certain words were most likely what prompted the R rating.
