Review of About Time (2013) by Jon R — 14 Mar 2014
Richard Curtis' best film, as far as I'm concerned. It's definitely not a film about time travel. It's a film about time, life, and embracing the ordinary. Time travel is simply the device used by Curtis to get us to recognise mortality, and how important it is to embrace what we have, right now.
Clearly it is not a film for cynical people, who may be in unrewarding families and relationships. But if you have recently been faced with the mortality of you or a loved one, this film reminds you that life is short, and to love those around you while you can.
